Littlerock Spanish Academy Mission

Little Rock Spanish Academy

Little Rock, the capital city of the state of Arkansas, is also the state’s most populous city. In addition to its large population, Little Rock boasts an ever-increasing population of Hispanic and Latino residents. As a southern state, Arkansas encourages an increase in Hispanic and Latino presence in both residency and in its culture. During the 2000 census, 187,535 residents were counted. 7,249 described themselves as being of Hispanic or Latino origin with 6,348, or nearly all Hispanic and Latino residents total, using Spanish as their primary language inside their home.

Little Rock continues its encouragement of Hispanic and Latino culture by celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month every year from September 15 to October 15 with statewide support and participation. Throughout the month, area libraries and other community facilities showcase educational and entertainment opportunities specifically targeting Hispanic heritage through events, festivities, and featured books or other programs.

As the Spanish language becomes more and more prevalent in the Little Rock area with its residents, culture and activities, the benefits from children learning the Spanish language and culture abound.
